Who is Loon State Physical Therapy?
If you have met me before, you probably know I’m a rambler when I talk. It’s not that I don’t EVENTUALLY get to the point, it just sometimes takes me a little bit longer :)
Well my goal here is not to ramble, but to give you a little bit more background on myself and how Loon State Physical Therapy came to be! So on that note…
~The story begins in my early youth~
I broke my arm in middle school flipping over the handlebars of my bike. This is the first injury I remember, and I luckily haven’t had much else in my years that would constitute as an injury on this similar level. After I was released from my cast, I got my first exposure to the profession of physical therapy. As a young kid, I certainly didn’t have one of those “this is what I want to be when I grow up” moments, but I found it interesting. My arm healed, my strength and range of motion came back, and off I went to continue life as a middle school kid.
Fast forward to high school, I luckily was still able to make it through four years of soccer and tennis without any significant injuries! Lucky me, truly, because I certainly had teammates that didn’t fare as well. Between them and my younger brother, I had my next exposure to physical therapy. Understanding much more at this time in my life, the young kid who found PT interesting still resonated to my high school self and I began to think about if I would like to be in the healthcare professional realm when I grew up.
At the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota I had the pleasure to gain an on campus job working with the medical staff for our athletic teams. Working in athletic acute care, my passion for the rehab side of things grew and I knew pursuing physical therapy looked to be a great option for a career.
I was fortunate to be accepted to Concordia University in St. Paul for my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I cannot overstate how appreciative I am of their DPT program giving me the opportunity to follow my career dream. Their program helped shape me to be the determined individual I am today.
Through my schooling and early career as a physical therapist, I always was passionate about helping people. You don’t go into this profession if you don’t have a general interest in seeing people get better and connecting with them on a level where they trust you to help get them out of pain. Pain can be so debilitating and affect us not only physically, but almost more so, emotionally. This ultimately has been what pushed me to start Loon State Physical Therapy. I have always had the desire to help others, but I now am confident I can do this to my fullest extent. Loon State Physical Therapy was born on the idea of living limitless. I believe EVERYONE should be able to accomplish this, and I will always work my hardest to be able to provide care that I believe is optimal to get people back to living limitless once again.
I look forward to being your teammate in this journey!
